He is a Master of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (III), a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, a Master of the WPPI Honours system, and a recipient of the Accolade Lifetime Achievement Award from WPPI.
David has a history of over 30 years in state, national and international judging, in Australia, New Zealand, the UK, Canada and the USA. He panel-chairs the ‘Premier Category’ for first time entrants at WPPI to great acclaim from participants due to its total emphasis on education and helpful, positive feedback. He has lectured to professionals in Asia, New Zealand, Australia, UK, Ireland, Canada and the USA.
He has presented keynote addresses to WPPI, DWF and at the Allxui conference in Beijing, three WPPI Plus Classes, over ten WPPI platform classes, and seven WPPI masterclasses. He has received standing ovations for his presentation ‘Cycles & Echoes’ at the PPA San Antonio conference and the DWF Conference in Phoenix - a presentation about the importance of family photographs and portraits throughout history.
David has worked in conjunction with Kodak (Australasia) for the creation or promotional images for the ‘Portra’ film range, with CR Kennedy for the promotion of Sigma and Hasselblad products, with Fujifilm Australia for the ‘S’ range of digital cameras, and is currently a Fuji ‘X’ photographer in Canada. He remains an enthusiastic Epson supporter after many years of working closely with Epson Australia for their 4880 & 3880 series printers.
Competition results include over sixty awards for excellence in wedding and portrait photography, including the AIPP “Victorian Professional Photographer of the Year” twice. He has won the Grand Award for excellence in portraiture twice at the American Wedding Portrait Photographers International convention in Las Vegas and ‘Grand Award – Wedding Digital’.
